The G. Holst of Christmas Past

I play Gustav Holst's "Cranham", also known as the Christmas carol "In the Bleak Midwinter."

The tuba is an E flat tuba by Goumat, from approximately 1900. The audio for this has been put together from multiple takes.

From left to right: bass, tenor, alto, soprano

O World, I Must Leave You

I played each of the four parts of this chorale on my bass trombone to an audible click track (no headphones) and then slapped them together in Audacity.

This is the J.S. Bach harmonization of "O Welt, Ich Muss Dich Lassen," arranged by Robert King for four trombones.

What's a Goumat?

I bought this on ebay for $20. I thought it was a euphonium but it turned out to be an E flat tuba.

By "Goumat & Co." from about 1900.

The Hunt

A brief excerpt from Anton Bruckner's Fourth Symphony.

All parts played by me except the artificial strings.

God Rest Ye Merry Bass Trombone

On the day before Christmas in 2011 I picked up my horn and sounded better than I had in probably two years so I decided to document it.
